Tax and price updates for apps, In-App Purchases, and subscriptions
The App Store supports 44 currencies across 175 storefronts, making it easy to sell digital goods and services globally. However, prices or proceeds may need to be adjusted due to changes in tax regulations or foreign exchange rates. These adjustments use publicly available exchange rate information to keep prices consistent across all storefronts. As of February 6, value-added tax (VAT) rates have been updated in several countries, including Azerbaijan, Peru, Slovakia, Estonia, and Finland. The Paid Applications Agreement has been updated to reflect that Apple collects and remits applicable taxes in Azerbaijan and Peru. On February 24, pricing for apps and In-App Purchases will be updated in Azerbaijan and Peru storefronts, unless the developer has selected one of these as the base for their app or In-App Purchase. Prices won't change for auto-renewable subscriptions or on storefronts where prices are manually managed. Beginning April 1, Apple will collect and remit a 10% Japanese consumption tax (JCT) on paid apps and In-App Purchases sold by non-Japan-based developers on the App Store in Japan. This change is due to Japan's tax regulations, and developers' proceeds will be adjusted accordingly. Prepaid payment instruments sold prior to April 1, 2025, will not be subject to platform taxation.
