TCL's new Mini LED TVs aim for OLED's throne (again)

TCL is introducing the QM6K TV at CES 2025, which the company claims is the best version of its Mini LED technology yet. The QM6K is part of TCL's new "Precise Dimming Series" and features several breakthrough improvements to the display technology. The TV uses TCL's Halo Control Technology Suite, which includes a new "Super High Energy LED chip" for increased brightness and light efficiency, a "Condensed Micro Lens" for precise control over light, and updated "Quantum Dot Technology" for a wider color gamut. The QM6K also features "Micro OD," which virtually eliminates the halo effect or blooming on the screen. The TV will be available in various bezel-less sizes, from 50 inches to 98 inches, and supports a 144Hz refresh rate and "up to LD500 Precise Dimming." The QM6K also features Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and AMD FreeSync certification, and runs on Google TV. TCL did not provide a release date for the QM6K but announced several pricing options, including a 50" model for $750, a 55" model for $800, and larger models up to a 98" model for $3,500. The QM6K is the first of several 2025 TVs that will feature the Halo Control Technology Suite. TCL's new technology aims to provide an alternative to OLED TVs. The company's use of Mini LED technology is part of its efforts to improve picture quality and offer a competitive option in the market.
