The Allagash Abductions: This State Park’s Most Famous Visitors ... Are Aliens?

The Atlas Obscura podcast is discussing UFOs and alien abductions in National Parks. The story begins with Jim Weiner, who had been having terrible nightmares in 1988, feeling like he was awake but paralyzed, with a sense of someone in the room and hearing voices. Jim's twin brother Jack was also experiencing the same thing, and they traced the strange sensation back to an incident in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in Maine over a decade earlier. In 1976, Jim, Jack, and their friends Charlie and Chuck went on a two-week camping trip in the Allagash Wilderness, where they saw a strange bright light that inverted on itself and blinked out of sight. Later that evening, they went on a night paddle and saw a large round bright light rising from the trees, which hovered and fluctuated between red, green, and yellow. The light scanned the water, and the men paddled back to shore, but they couldn't recall a chunk of time and found their campfire had gone out. They talked to a ranger, who suggested it might have been a hardware store's floodlights, but the men knew it was something more. Decades later, Jim and Jack started having strange visions and nightmares, and they realized they were experiencing the same thing. They contacted their friends Chuck and Charlie, who were also experiencing strange dreams, and they started to connect the dots between their past experience and their current nightmares.
