The Alto Knights trailer pits Robert De Niro against Robert De Niro

The Alto Knights is an upcoming gangster movie directed by Barry Levinson, starring Robert De Niro as two mob bosses, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. The film explores the lifelong friendship and violent dissolution of their relationship after one is nearly killed in an assassination attempt. The movie follows the two notorious organized crime bosses as they vie for control of New York City's streets. Once friends, petty jealousies and betrayals place them on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia and America forever. The film is written by Nicholas Pileggi, who also wrote Goodfellas. Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, and Katherine Narducci are also part of the cast, each playing one character. The Alto Knights is Levinson's first theatrically released film since 2015's Rock The Casbah. The movie's trailer showcases De Niro's dual roles, using special effects to create two distinct characters. The film is set to open on March 21. The Alto Knights will challenge The Irishman's de-aged De Niro with a pair of Bobbys that are collectively 162 years old.
