The Atlantic Announces Joshua Partlow, Ariel Sabar, and Sebastian Smee as Staff Writers
The Atlantic has welcomed three new staff writers to its team. Ariel Sabar, a freelancer for the publication since 2015, will focus on in-depth narrative reporting. Joshua Partlow and Sebastian Smee are both joining from The Washington Post. Partlow will cover extreme weather and natural disasters. Smee, a Pulitzer Prize winner, will write about visual art and its cultural influence. Sabar has a history of compelling freelance work for The Atlantic, including notable stories that became award-winning books. His narrative style is described as captivating and inexhaustible. Partlow is a seasoned reporter with previous foreign correspondent experience in Latin America and the Middle East. He has already contributed a notable story about an avalanche to The Atlantic. Smee, formerly an art critic for The Washington Post and The Boston Globe, is a highly respected voice in arts commentary.
