The Current Nuclear State Of Affairs

The recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan has led to a review of the global nuclear state of affairs. China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are all developing their nuclear capabilities, but what they plan to do with them is a major concern. Russia wants to recreate its empire, including Ukraine and Eastern Europe, while China seeks to become the world's premier power, including dominion over space. Iran aims to export its Islamic doctrine through proxy organizations, and North Korea is a cooperative adjunct of the other three, pinning down American resources in Korea and Japan. The US cannot deter these threats alone and needs its allies to pivot to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to confront these military threats. Europe, with a GDP of nearly $20 trillion, and America's Indo-Pacific allies, with a GDP of $20 trillion, can contribute to collective security. The US investment in defense is approaching $1 trillion, which is necessary to protect security and deter threats. Real allies must pull their own weight and not depend solely on the US for security. Together, America and its allies can pivot to the growing dangers and protect security through deterrence.
