The illegal sports streaming platform Streameast, the world's largest, has been shut down following a year-long investigation. Streameast offered free access to pirated sports content from various leagues, including the Premier League and NFL. The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a coalition of major entertainment companies, led the investigation. ACE collaborated with Egyptian law enforcement in a raid resulting in two arrests. The raid seized electronic devices and uncovered links to a UAE shell company allegedly used for money laundering. Over $6 million in advertising revenue is suspected to have been laundered over 15 years. Streameast's original domain is inactive, but copycat sites have emerged. ACE is investigating these copycat sites for potential connections to the original platform. The shutdown represents a significant blow to sports broadcasting piracy. ACE's continued efforts aim to combat the ongoing threat of similar illegal platforms.
