The Morning After: A Tamagotchi made with real egg

Today is Labor Day, and while tech news usually slows down, there are still some interesting headlines. One of them is the release of a new Tamagotchi, which is made from recycled eggshells. The Original Tamagotchi Celebration digital pet is available for pre-order at Amazon for $30. It's a bit more basic compared to recent models, such as the Tamagotchi Connection released in May and the Tamagotchi Uni from last year, which had WiFi connectivity and access to the Tamaverse. In other news, the Engadget Podcast discussed iPhone 16 and Apple rumors with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. There's also a story about a search for a lost tech icon named Mavis Beacon, and a report that Apple plans to drop USB-A ports with the M4 Mac mini. A strange noise has been detected coming from a speaker in the Starliner spacecraft, which is scheduled to undock from the International Space Station and return to Earth uncrewed in a few days. The team is trying to figure out the source of the pulsing noise. Engadget also released a review recap, including reviews of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and the latest CoPilot+ laptop from Dell. Additionally, there are Labor Day sales from Apple, Amazon, Samsung, and more, with some good deals on MacBook models.
