Samsung is introducing a new Digital Home Key feature within its Samsung Wallet for compatible smartphones. This feature allows users to unlock smart doors, similar to the existing digital car key functionality, using their phones. The Digital Home Key utilizes the Aliro communication protocol, an industry standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance. Smart lock brands such as Nuki and Schlage will support this new feature. Samsung emphasizes the security of the Digital Home Key, with EAL6+ security certification. Users will need to authenticate with biometrics or a PIN before using the key on their phone. If a phone is lost, the Digital Home Key can be remotely managed or removed via Samsung Find. The system is designed to provide ease of use and security. The Digital Home Key feature is rolling out in select regions this month. Samsung plans to expand the feature as more compatible smart locks become available.
