The new Studio Display XDR boasts a mini-LED display capable of up to a 120Hz refresh rate. However, compatibility is restricted by the Mac or iPad's processing chip. Macs with M1 and M2 series chips will be limited to 60Hz. To experience the full 120Hz refresh rate, you'll need an M2 Pro, M2 Max, or later chip. All Macs with Apple silicon support the Studio Display XDR though, starting with the upcoming macOS update. The M5 iPad Pro is the only iPad able to utilize the 120Hz refresh rate. Other compatible iPads are capped at 60Hz, including newer Air and Pro models. For users with older devices, the standard Studio Display presents a more economical option. The Studio Display XDR is significantly more expensive than the regular Studio Display. Pre-orders begin soon, with the official launch slated for March 11th.
