The author recently recertified in three AWS exams: Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, and Security Specialty. Many people assume recertification exams are shorter or simpler, but they are the same as the initial exams. The author's friends believed the Solutions Architect Professional exam was the toughest, but the author disagreed, stating it depends on individual experience and knowledge. The author compared the three exams, noting the Security Specialty exam had fewer questions and less time, but was indeed easier. The author finished the Security Specialty exam 40 minutes early, with an average of 2.5 minutes per question, compared to 2.8 minutes per question for the Professional exams. The author attributes their ease with the Security Specialty exam to their daily job experience, not a study plan. The author found the Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer exams to be similarly challenging, but slightly preferred the Solutions Architect exam due to their background as a Solutions Architect and Technical Trainer. The author believes the difficulty of the exams depends on individual experience and knowledge. The DevOps Engineer exam was slightly harder for the author, but they scored 60 points higher on it. Overall, the author found the Security Specialty exam to be the easiest and least exhausting of the three.
