Meta is implementing this to boost creator visibility, though overall website traffic from Threads remains low. The feature was inspired by users sharing screenshots of longer content like articles and transcripts. Authors and journalists can use it to share previews of their published works. Despite the character limit, the tool lacks advanced publishing features like extensive formatting or media embedding. Text attachments are not compatible with the fediverse, meaning they won't be visible to users on other ActivityPub services. However, many will find it more convenient than creating multi-part Threads. Meta plans to enhance text attachments with more functionality and creator-focused updates in the future.
