TMDL View on the Web (Preview)
TMDL View on the Web is a new feature for Power BI, enabling code-first semantic model creation and modification directly within the browser. This introduces a rich code editor for Tabular Model Definition Language (TMDL) scripts, allowing developers to view and edit models efficiently. Developers can explore model metadata, including advanced properties, using the TMDL code. The web version has a modern code editor with features like IntelliSense, multiline editing, and search/replace. Users can modify any model property directly in the browser, including advanced settings unseen in the regular interface. The feature enhances reusability by allowing easy sharing and reuse of semantic model objects via TMDL scripts. TMDL View on the Web introduces distinct View and Edit modes for safer model experimentation. Unlike the Desktop version, scripts do not persist, while using the workspace version history. Web version requires write permissions for access, unlike the Desktop version. The feature will roll out in preview in the coming weeks.
