Track CI component usage across your organization
GitLab's CI/CD Catalog allows teams to publish and share reusable pipeline components. Once these components are deployed, it is difficult to track usage and versioning. GitLab 19.0 introduces Components Analytics within the CI/CD Catalog to solve this lack of visibility. This feature offers adoption data and usage counts for all CI/CD components. The high-level view (available in all tiers, including Free) shows the latest version and the number of projects using each component. GitLab Ultimate users gain access to a drill-down view, which reveals which projects use specific component versions. This helps identify outdated components and potential security risks. Components Analytics provides a clear understanding of the components in use and their versions. It allows teams to prioritize maintenance, plan deprecations, and improve security response times. Native visibility offered by Components Analytics surpasses the capabilities of other platforms like GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and Jenkins. This ensures that CI standards are running and that platform investments yield a return. As AI generates more pipelines, the CI/CD Catalog and Components Analytics work together to scale automated workflows. Self-Managed and Dedicated customers also benefit from component mirroring capabilities.
