Trump Admin Will Encourage All Americans To Use Wearables, Says RFK Jr.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will launch a massive advertising campaign to encourage Americans to use wearables such as fitness trackers. The campaign aims to promote the use of wearables as a way for people to take control of their own health and make informed decisions about their diet and lifestyle. Kennedy believes that wearables are key to the "Making America Healthy Again" (MAHA) agenda and hopes that every American will be wearing a wearable within four years. During a congressional hearing, Rep. Troy Balderson expressed support for innovative wellness tools and asked Kennedy about the government's efforts to promote access to them. Kennedy highlighted the benefits of wearables, citing their ability to track glucose levels, heart rates, and other health metrics. However, he declined to address concerns about keeping data from wearables private. The MAHA Commission, chaired by Kennedy, has mentioned wearables only once in its first report, noting their potential link to health issues such as reduced sperm count. Despite some research suggesting that wearables can cause skin irritation and other problems, many users continue to use them. Kennedy shared personal anecdotes about friends who have experienced positive impacts from wearables, and the administration is exploring ways to make wearables more affordable, comparing them to expensive weight loss drugs like Ozempic. The HHS is also planning to utilize information from wearables for research, including studying the causes of autism.
