Many food banks are experiencing increased demand, surpassing even the peak of the pandemic. Records reveal millions of pounds of food were canceled, impacting every state and territory. Food banks that rely heavily on federal funding or have less state support are struggling the most to cope with the reduced supply. This has led to smaller food package distributions, and in some cases, the delivery of produce that has gone bad.
