Trump shrugs off possible reconciliation with Musk

President Trump stated that he assumes his relationship with Elon Musk has ended and has no desire to repair it after their public fallout last week. Trump said it's a shame" that Musk is "heartbroken" and "depressed". Trump also warned Musk that he could face "serious consequences" if he funds Democratic candidates running against Republicans who vote for Trump's "big, beautiful bill". Trump declined to elaborate on what the consequences would be for Musk. House Speaker Mike Johnson also warned Musk that it would be a "big mistake" to go after Republicans who vote for the bill. Trump said he has no plans to speak to Musk and accused him of being "disrespectful to the office of the President". The alliance between Trump and Musk exploded last week as Musk campaigned against the massive tax-and-spending package, calling it a "disgusting abomination". Trump expressed disappointment in Musk, claiming he was familiar with the legislation. Musk fired back on X, claiming he would have lost the election without him and accusing Trump of being "in the Epstein files", which Trump dismissed as "old news".
