Twitch will open some monetization tools to even first-time streamers

Twitch plans to offer monetization tools like subscriptions and Bits to all streamers in 2025, according to CEO Dan Clancy's open letter. Currently, monetizing Twitch streams requires reaching "Affiliate" status on the platform. Subscriptions and Bits are the two main ways streamers can earn money from their streams, aside from ad revenue or sponsorships. Each subscription earns a 50/50 split on revenue, while each Bit earned translates to around $0.01. Opening up monetization tools to all streamers will make streaming on Twitch more appealing to those worried about becoming a Twitch Affiliate or Partner. Reaching Affiliate or Partner status requires earning a certain number of followers and streaming hours, among other criteria. With monetization tools available to everyone, climbing Twitch's ladder will be about unlocking access to tools rather than just earning money. Note that novice streamers must earn at least $50 to withdraw their earnings from Twitch. Alongside these changes, Twitch will introduce new ways for streamers to earn money together, editing tools for creating clips, and expanded mobile moderation tools. Twitch has been rethinking its approach to moderation and policy violations, including making violations "expire" after a certain amount of time.
