Ubisoft's free Assassin's Creed Mirage Discovery Tour app allows you to explore 9th century Baghdad

Ubisoft is releasing a free Discovery Tour app for Assassin's Creed Mirage, focusing on the history of Baghdad. This app offers a new approach, featuring a two-hour narrative adventure set in 9th century Baghdad. It incorporates encyclopedic entries on the history, art, and culture of medieval Baghdad and the Abbasid Caliphate. The app also includes an augmented reality feature for viewing 3D models of famous artifacts. While it differs from previous playable history lessons, it effectively utilizes the historical research from Assassin's Creed games. The app's free release is unusual, as Ubisoft typically charges for its games and standalone Discovery Tour apps. This might reflect Assassin's Creed Mirage's positioning as a back-to-basics stealth game. Ubisoft's broader strategy for the franchise may also be evolving. The Assassin's Creed brand was recently spun off into a new subsidiary partially funded by Tencent. There are also ongoing plans to transform Assassin's Creed into an always-online live-service game. The Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad is available for download on the App Store and Play Store.
