Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kyiv, sparking fires in at least two districts of the Ukrainian capital, with one person injured, according to the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko. The attack caused fires in a non-residential area of a northern suburb and another area just south of the city centre, with several cars on fire. Ukraine's military administration reported explosions in the city amid air alerts that sounded after 2am. Meanwhile, Ukraine conducted a long-range strike on a Russian rocket facility, about 900km from Ukraine's border, as part of its campaign to pressure Moscow to end the war. The strike hit the Progress rocket centre in Samara region, which produces rockets used to launch satellites for the Rassvet broadband network, a Russian alternative to SpaceX's Starlink. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike was aimed at reducing Russia's war potential and achieving peace through concrete damage to specific facilities. Russia's defence ministry reported that its drones and missiles had struck Ukrainian logistics centres and energy and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian army. A Russian strike on an apartment block in south-eastern Ukraine killed a three-month-old baby and wounded 11 people, while North Korean leader Kim Jong-un expressed his support for Russia in a letter to President Vladimir Putin. The exchange of letters between Kim and Putin follows Ukraine's accusation that Moscow had launched North Korean ballistic missiles in a strike that killed at least nine people and wounded dozens. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, with both sides conducting strikes and exchanging accusations, and North Korea's involvement adding a new dimension to the conflict.
