Ukraine war briefing: Kyiv hit with ballistic missiles, as civilians killed by drone strikes in Russia

A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv early Sunday wounded at least two people, with the city's administration warning residents to take shelter. The attack follows civilian deaths on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine border on Saturday, with Russian strikes killing two people in Dnipropetrovsk and the northern Sumy region. Ukraine launched attacks on Volgograd and Belgorod in Russia's southwest, and Horlivka, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, killing three people. A Ukrainian drone strike on Saturday killed two people in a village near the border in the Russian border region of Bryansk. Russia's defence ministry reported that 124 Ukrainian drones had been downed over Russian regions over a period of 12 hours. A massive Ukrainian drone strike hit the Krasnodar region in southern Russia, killing one person, wounding another, and causing a fire in an oil refinery. The town of Nikopol in Ukraine was also targeted, with more than 40 drone strikes and artillery fire killing one person and injuring one. Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic announced his resignation and the country will hold early presidential and parliamentary elections, amid pressure from the West to align with EU sanctions on Russia. Russian president Vladimir Putin and Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko held talks on Friday, discussing trade and economic cooperation, and regional security. The meeting follows a warning from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Lukashenko to remove equipment from Belarus used by Russia in its attacks on Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the region.
