Upcoming changes to Rosetta support for Intel-based macOS apps

Apple is concluding its transition to Apple silicon for Mac computers. Rosetta, a translation layer, was introduced to aid this transition. Starting with macOS 26.4, users may receive notifications about apps still using Rosetta. macOS 27 will be the final release to support Rosetta functionality. After macOS 27, Intel-only apps will no longer run on Apple silicon Macs. However, Rosetta support will continue for older, unmaintained gaming titles. Developers are urged to add Apple silicon support to their macOS apps immediately. This ensures apps remain available and users avoid interruptions. Developers should build and distribute apps as universal binaries for both architectures. Those with existing Apple silicon versions should inform their users to update.
