This wizard preserves essential dataflow properties and assesses items beforehand, clarifying the upgrade scope. While Power BI Dataflows Gen1 remains supported, new development is focused on Fabric Dataflows Gen2, enabling modernization at an organization's own pace. Fabric Dataflows Gen2 builds upon Power Query, adding capabilities for development, operations, and integration within Fabric. It supports numerous data destinations and integrates with Git for source control and deployment workflows. Performance enhancements like Fast Copy and Modern Evaluator are available, potentially reducing refresh times significantly. Copilot in Data Factory can assist with Dataflow Gen2 authoring using natural language. Users can initiate the upgrade by selecting a Dataflows Gen1 item and adding others from the same workspace. The upgraded item retains its ID, schedule, queries, and connections, with the original item being replaced. Before upgrading, the wizard assesses dataflows, indicating if they are ready, need attention, or are unavailable for upgrade. Post-upgrade, users must refresh data, rebind dependencies, complete any necessary actions, and update consumers to the modern connector.
