US Olympics Committee Bans Men From Women's Sports, Says It's Aligning With Presidential Order

The USOPC updated its policy on transgender athlete participation, aligning with Trump's executive order protecting women's sports. This means transgender women may be barred from competing in women's events at the 2028 Olympics. The policy mandates that sports recognize only two unchangeable sexes: male and female. National sport governing bodies must now update their policies to comply with the USOPC's directive. Compliance extends to local sports clubs, requiring them to align their rules accordingly. Some sports federations like USA Fencing have already adjusted policies to reflect these guidelines. World Athletics is also considering changes similar to Trump’s order, while other bodies like USA Track and Field may face pressure to align. The IOC's new president aims to protect the female category, with stricter rules being implemented by some federations. These changes mirror similar actions taken by the NCAA to limit transgender athletes' participation in women's sports. The USOPC's CEO emphasized the importance of fair and safe competition environments for women, citing their obligation to comply with federal expectations.
