GitLab Duo Agent Platform, now in Beta, facilitates AI agents interacting with GitLab resources to complete complex, multi-step tasks. It offers both conversational and automated experiences for code generation, modernization, security, and analysis. The "Issue to MR" agent Flow streamlines transforming issues into draft merge requests. This addresses the developer challenge of time-consuming setup for minor product tweaks. To use the Issue to MR Flow, prerequisites include a well-defined issue and Developer permissions. Additionally, GitLab Duo Agent Platform and Flows must be enabled in project settings. After fulfilling these, create a detailed project issue or open an existing one. Click "Generate MR with Duo" below the issue header to initiate the Flow. Progress can be tracked in Agent sessions, and a link to the completed MR appears in the issue's activity. The proposed changes can be validated locally before merging. The Issue to MR Flow reduces time spent locating files and maintains context by linking the MR to the issue. GitLab Duo Agent Platform provides full project context across the SDLC, with a unified data model, built-in security, interoperability, and scalability.
