Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max offer targeted upgrades over last year's models, focusing on performance and camera enhancements. The display sizes and peak brightness remain the same, as do the Ultra Wide and Telephoto camera hardware and MagSafe/Qi2 charging speeds. A significant upgrade is the A20 Pro chip, boasting faster CPU, GPU, and AI processing with a new dual 16-core Neural Engine. The cooling system has been improved with a larger vapor chamber for better sustained performance. The Dynamic Island is now smaller and can display more live activities simultaneously. The Main camera features a new variable aperture and improved low-light performance, along with new manual controls and features like Apple Reference Image. Cinematic mode and Time-lapse recording now support 4K Dolby Vision at higher frame rates, and video now benefits from improved audio processing and smart focus tracking. Battery life has been extended for both models, and wired charging speeds are faster, reaching 50% in about 15 minutes. A new 2TB storage option is available, and the phones come in new color finishes. Both models are slightly heavier and have a $100 higher starting price, with pre-orders opening September 12th and release on September 18th.
