What's New in Excel (August 2026)
This August 2026 update introduces several new Copilot features for Excel across Windows, Mac, and web versions. A significant addition is the change history skill, allowing users to understand workbook evolution, identify editors, and revert changes. Copilot's chat history is now accessible from the upper left menu of the Copilot pane. New capabilities enable users to create and organize PivotTables, and use "@chart-design" for improved visualizations. Excel Insiders can now utilize a Python skill to perform complex data analysis and visualization directly within their workbooks. These features are partly driven by user feedback through the Feedback in Action program. Users are encouraged to provide further feedback, suggestions, and new ideas on Microsoft Feedback. Subscribing to the Excel Blog and Insiders Blog, and joining the Excel Community will keep users informed of the latest updates. Contributions from Excel MVPs David Benaim, Bill Jelen, Alan Murray, and John Michaloudis are also highlighted in this update.
