Subscription services for streaming platforms have seen further price increases in 2024 and 2025. Disney+ is the latest to raise its cost, moving from $15.99 to $18.99 per month starting October 21, 2025. This places Disney+ at the higher end of monthly pricing, similar to Hulu, which increased its price to $18.99 in October 2024. Both Disney+ and Hulu experienced a doubling of their churn rates in September, from four to eight percent and five to ten percent respectively. While price hikes might have contributed, the increase in cancellations is also linked to the temporary removal of Jimmy Kimmel from ABC. Other streaming platforms like HBO Max, Apple TV, and Netflix experienced more stable churn rates during their own price adjustments. Netflix increased its standard ad-free plan price to $17.99 in January. Apple TV maintained a competitive price, now at $12.99 per month as of August. Amazon Prime Video introduced a $2.99 monthly fee for an ad-free experience in January 2024. For Amazon Prime members, the bundled service including Prime Video costs $14.99 per month in the U.S.
