Wu-Tang Clan's new game blends anime with Afro-surrealism

Wu-Tang Clan has announced a new game, Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, which is an action RPG with anime-style fighting and an afro-surrealist aesthetic. The game takes place in Shaolin, where players must fight alongside Wu-Tang members to defeat the invading forces of the Deceiver. Players can play solo or team up with up to two friends online, customizing their fighting styles and fashion. The game was developed by Brass Lion Entertainment, a studio founded by industry veterans, including Manveer Heir, Rashad Redic, and Bryna Dabby Smith. The studio focuses on telling authentic underrepresented stories of race, age, religion, and sexuality. The game's script is in the horror genre, but it works well from an interactive perspective. Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver features classic Wu-Tang tunes alongside new material, overseen by Just Blaze. The game does not have a release date yet, but a teaser and Steam page are available. The Wu-Tang Clan was looking for a studio that could develop a game that tied in with Ghostface Killah and RZA's upcoming film, Angel of Dust. They found Brass Lion Entertainment, whose director of music and culture is American record producer Just Blaze.
