X to require AI labels on armed conflict videos from paid creators, citing ‘times of war’

X will suspend content creators from its revenue sharing program for posting undisclosed AI-generated videos of armed conflicts. First-time violators face a 90-day suspension, while repeat offenders will be permanently removed. This policy, announced by Nikita Bier, aims to maintain content authenticity, especially during wartime. The rule specifically targets creators in the revenue sharing program and AI videos of armed conflicts, not all AI content. Violations will be identified via Community Notes or by detecting AI metadata. Bier emphasized the importance of authentic information during war, despite formal declarations of war being rare. The rapid advancement of AI video generation makes distinguishing real from fake footage increasingly difficult. While X already watermarks Grok-generated content, this is a new disclosure requirement for users. X is also testing a broader AI labeling toggle for all synthetic content, though no timeline has been released. This move reflects a growing concern over the spread of deceptive AI-generated media.
