Apple is introducing Live Rewind on the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. This feature utilizes a new S11 processor and continual listening capabilities. Live Rewind captures the last 15 seconds of surrounding audio upon a double press of the Digital Crown. The audio is then converted into a transcript, allowing users to review missed conversations. Users can further interact with these snippets by asking Siri for analysis or saving them to the Siri app. Crucially, privacy concerns are addressed through explicit indicators of activation. An audible chime and a full-screen animation with a microphone icon will alert others when Live Rewind is active. Apple emphasizes that Live Rewind requires a deliberate action to initiate and all audio processing occurs on-device. The transcribed snippets are temporary, disappearing shortly after the watch display dims unless saved. This new functionality is part of Apple Intelligence and requires specific iPhone and Apple Watch models. Live Rewind will be released later this year, not with the initial watchOS 27 and iOS 27 updates.
