YouTube is bringing the Gemini-powered 'Ask' button to TVs

YouTube is expanding its AI-powered "Ask" feature to smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming devices. This feature, powered by Gemini, allows users to ask questions about the video they are watching. The "Ask" button appears on-screen, providing access to a chatbot trained on the video's content. Users can select pre-set prompts or use their voice to ask specific questions. The TV remote's microphone button can also activate the feature. Examples of possible questions include inquiries about recipes or song lyrics. This feature is currently in an experimental phase, being rolled out to a limited number of users. Google will monitor the user feedback garnered, potentially leading to further expansion and improvement of the functionality. The desktop version of the "Ask about this video" feature already exists. This new feature aims to enhance the YouTube viewing experience on larger screens. The goal is to provide viewers with easier access to information about the content they're enjoying. Google is committed to sharing future updates regarding this expansion.
