Abercrombie & Fitch Ex-CEO Arrested In Florida On Sex Trafficking Charges

The former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch was arrested in South Florida on Tuesday morning on sex trafficking-related charges brought by federal prosecutors in New York. This comes a year after Mike Jeffries, the former CEO, was accused of running a giant sex-trafficking ring that exploited young men who wanted to become models for the brand. Jeffries' associates, Matthew Smith and James Jacobson, were also charged in connection with the sex trafficking case. The arrests were announced by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, who held a press conference to discuss the case. In October 2023, A&F and Jeffries were sued, with court documents alleging that Jeffries masterminded a sex trafficking operation. A BBC investigation in 2023 revealed systematic abuse involving Jeffries, Smith, and Jacobson, who allegedly lured young men into an abusive situation with promises of lucrative modeling contracts. The operation spanned from the 1990s to 2015 and involved coercive sexual encounters at luxury locations worldwide. Attorney Brittany Henderson, representing the plaintiff in the case, stated that the arrests are a monumental step towards justice for the victims. Henderson also expressed her intention to hold Abercrombie and Fitch liable for facilitating the conduct. There is no apparent link between Jeffries and other high-profile sex trafficking cases, including those involving Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jeffrey Epstein.
