Carlos Slim's financial group, Inbursa, has established Latin America's largest aquarium, a remarkable feat of engineering designed to withstand earthquakes and situated 26 meters below ground. This impressive facility showcases an extraordinary array of marine life, beginning its narrative from the deepest part of the property. Visitors ascend through distinct zones representing the seabed, coral reefs, beaches, mangroves, and even the Arctic, spread across four floors. The aquarium offers a theatrical experience, with its decor mimicking a sunken ship, jungle ruins, and submarine interiors. It houses over 350 unique species, including jellyfish, manta rays, sharks, penguins, and poisonous frogs, many of which are uncommon for a landlocked city. Twenty-two million liters of saltwater were sourced from Veracruz beaches to maintain the aquarium's operational integrity. Uniquely, the venue can be rented for private events like weddings and parties, with options for underwater marriage proposals. Furthermore, on the last Wednesday of each month, during Mexico City's Night of Museums, the aquarium hosts concerts and cultural events included with admission.
