Africa Is Home To 16 Of The World's 20 Fastest Growing Populations
The United States faces a significantly slower population growth rate, taking 133 years to double. Conversely, several African and Middle Eastern countries are experiencing rapid population growth. Some nations like Oman and Syria are projected to double their populations within 20 years. Arab states, driven by a high average fertility rate, are estimated to double in 36 years. Both Yemen and Afghanistan are expected to double their populations in just over two decades. The Central African Republic and Somalia are the fastest-growing populations in Africa, doubling in 21 years. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is predicted to double its population by 2047. Consequently, the DRC is projected to become the fifth most populous country by the year 2100. Nigeria is also poised to become the fourth-most populous country globally.
