Agile AI architectures: A fungible data center for the intelligent era
AI is transforming various aspects of life, driven by advancements in computing infrastructure. The demand for AI services is growing exponentially, creating a mismatch between supply and demand in data centers. This requires new, rapidly adaptable architectures and system designs. Managing technology innovation across the stack is crucial, considering the increasing complexity and heterogeneity of components. To address these challenges, data centers should prioritize fungibility and agility through modular, interoperable, and standardized architectures. Power delivery and management must be standardized, exploring grid integration and battery storage solutions. Data center cooling is also being reimagined with liquid cooling solutions and standardized interfaces. Standardizing physical infrastructure and telemetry is essential for efficient maintenance and integration. Open standards for scalable and secure systems, like Caliptra 2.0 and Congestion Signaling, are being developed. Sustainability is also being prioritized through methodologies for measuring AI's environmental impact and collaborations on green initiatives.
