AI note-taking is now available in Google Voice

Google Voice now offers a "Take notes for me" feature that automatically records and transcribes phone calls. This tool summarizes key points and identifies action items, sending them via Gmail and storing them in the Voice app. It aims to eliminate manual note-taking, preserve critical details, and enhance professionalism. New Google Voice users have this feature enabled by default, while existing users need to activate it manually. Administrators can enable or disable the feature for their organization through the admin console. During calls, the "Record" button transforms into a "Notes" button, initiating recording and AI note-taking. After the call, users receive an email with their notes, and the transcript, audio, and notes are saved within the Voice app. Access to these post-call summaries and transcripts is limited to the user who initiated the AI capture, with separate artifacts for each participant if multiple initiate it. An audio disclosure informs all participants that they are being recorded and captured by AI upon feature activation. Administrators have control over customizing consent language to match company standards. Currently, this feature is exclusive to English conversations. Admins can manage the feature at the domain, organizational unit, or group level, and end users must enable Workspace Smart Feature Consent in their account settings. Availability is for Google Workspace editions that include Google Voice, with a rollout beginning June 16, 2026.
