Alexander Vindman Suffers Double-Digit Loss To Socialist Angie Nixon In Florida Senate Primary
Alexander Vindman, a prominent figure in the Russiagate investigation, has lost his bid for a Florida Senate seat. He was defeated in the Democratic primary by Angie Nixon, a Democratic Socialist. Nixon secured 56% of the vote compared to Vindman's 44%. Both sought to challenge incumbent Republican Senator Ashley Moody. Nixon, a state representative, was not widely expected to win against Vindman, an immigrant who raised significantly more campaign funds. Nixon, whose platform includes Medicare for all and affordable housing, celebrated her victory by emphasizing the power of organized people. Senate leaders acknowledged Nixon's win, highlighting her dedication to working families. During the campaign, Nixon criticized Vindman's recent residency in Florida. Nixon has also been vocal about her stance on the conflict in Israel and Palestine, advocating for a ceasefire and expressing support for withholding military aid to Israel. She maintains that her views are not antisemitic.
