Google Sheets now integrates with BigQuery data analysis through Connected Sheets and Gemini. Users can interact with vast BigQuery datasets using natural language conversations directly within Google Sheets. Gemini queries operate on the full datasets in BigQuery, not just spreadsheet views. This allows for asking questions, performing analyses, and creating views over extremely large data. Key use cases include asking questions in natural language, conducting follow-up analyses, and generating dashboards. Gemini can build comprehensive dashboards with refreshable native objects based on user descriptions. This empowers business users to complete end-to-end analysis quickly without leaving Sheets. It also reduces the backlog of data requests for data teams. Admins do not have controls for this feature, and it is enabled by default for eligible users. The feature is gradually rolling out starting October 19, 2026, and is available for various Google Workspace editions.
