AnchorWatch Opens Bitcoin Custody Service With Lloyd’s-Backed Insurance Option
AnchorWatch has launched a new Bitcoin custody service chartered in Nevada. This service addresses the complex needs of professional trustees, company treasuries, and advisors beyond just private key management. It incorporates governance, recoverability, and safeguards against loss due to theft or coercion. AnchorWatch offers clients a choice in how private keys are controlled. One option involves AnchorWatch controlling the keys while clients retain additional signing authority. Another arrangement distributes key control among AnchorWatch, BitGo, and CoinCorner. Eligible customers can also apply for insurance coverage through Lloyd's of London syndicates. This insurance is subject to underwriting approval and policy terms, with potential limits up to $370 million per client. AnchorWatch is presenting a fixed-dollar custody charge structure, capped monthly at $10,000, differentiating it from common percentage-based fees. Insurance costs are separate from custody charges. The service targets clients seeking regulated custody controls without centralizing all signing decisions. The effectiveness of this offering relies on the actual key arrangements, policy exclusions, service reliability, and client understanding of remaining uninsured risks.
