Anna Freitag, a beloved 26-year-old post office manager in Bad Grosspertholz, often felt lonely due to her work preventing frequent family visits. On October 30, 1936, after closing the post office, she began her walk home to Rindlberg. The next morning, Anna failed to open the post office, immediately alarming the townspeople. A search party quickly formed after it was discovered she never arrived home. Anna was tragically found murdered, her throat cut, prompting a murder investigation. Initially, a tramp was arrested, but suspicion soon shifted to Alois Eder, a local gendarme known for his arrogant demeanor. Eder was arrested three days later, and overwhelming evidence led to his confession. He admitted to ambushing Anna to steal her post office keys and rob the workers' wages stored there. Eder intercepted Anna, feigning concern for her safety, then fatally cut her throat in a wooded area. He subsequently stole the keys and cash register money. In April 1937, Alois Eder was sentenced to death and executed by hanging on June 5, 1937. A memorial for Anna Freitag was erected in 1937 near the murder site, and the curve where it stands is now named Anna Freitag Curve.
