Announcing general availability of Firestore with MongoDB compatibility

Firestore with MongoDB compatibility is now generally available, allowing developers to build scalable and reliable applications on Firestore's serverless database using a familiar MongoDB API. This feature enables the reuse of existing MongoDB application code, drivers, and tools, integrating them with Firestore's serverless benefits. Firestore offers multi-region replication, high availability with a 99.999% SLA, fast read performance, Google Cloud governance, and a pay-as-you-go pricing model. Customer interest spans various industries, with a retail company already planning to migrate their product catalog to leverage enhanced scalability and availability. New capabilities introduced based on preview feedback include expanded API support with over 200 features, enabling advanced querying and data joining. Enterprise readiness is strengthened with point-in-time recovery, database clones, managed export/import, and trigger support for change data capture. Security is enhanced with Private Google Access, and observability is improved with new usage metrics. Developers can now access Firestore with MongoDB compatibility through both Firebase and Google Cloud consoles and CLIs. This offering is part of Firestore Enterprise edition, with no upfront fees and a free tier available.
