Another Top Zelensky Aide Fired Amid Corruption Probe, House Raid
Ukraine's government is once again embroiled in a corruption scandal, this time directly implicating President Zelenskyy's office. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau launched an operation targeting an alleged criminal organization involving current and former officials. Amidst these investigations, the deputy head of the presidential office, Iryna Mudra, was dismissed by President Zelenskyy. Her home was reportedly searched by investigators on the same day the operation was unveiled. Media reports cite sources suggesting senior officials from the President's Office are involved in the ongoing probes. The operation, code-named "Forrest Gump," includes lawmaker Vadym Stolar and former parliament member Maksym Mykytas. Audio recordings purportedly from the investigation mention the President's Office and large sums of money. This latest scandal follows a series of previous corruption investigations at high government levels. Earlier this year, a close Zelenskyy ally, Andriy Yermak, faced money-laundering charges. Some observers interpret these scandals as attempts to present Zelenskyy as fighting corruption from within. However, others suggest these events are used to portray Ukraine as a functioning democracy progressing against corruption.
