Anthropic Signs $35 Billion Cloud Deal With Nvidia-Backed Lambda
Anthropic has reportedly secured a massive $35 billion cloud-computing deal with Lambda. Lambda, an Nvidia-backed company, will equip a data center in Texas with Nvidia chips. This facility is being developed by Hut 8 and has a capacity of approximately 350 megawatts. The agreement aims to increase the availability of Nvidia computing resources for Anthropic's AI products, specifically its Claude AI. This deal highlights Nvidia's role in expanding computing access throughout the AI sector. Lambda benefits from this arrangement as Nvidia is an investor, and Lambda secured a significant contract without needing to manage data center leasing directly. Hut 8, which transitioned from bitcoin mining to AI data centers, previously announced a 15-year lease agreement worth $19.6 billion at its Texas campus with an unnamed customer. This latest agreement follows other substantial computing deals made by Anthropic. The company recently committed $45 billion to rent capacity from Nscale's data center in West Virginia. Additionally, Anthropic has previously entered into agreements exceeding $50 billion with neocloud Fluidstack Ltd. and $45 billion with SpaceX.
