Apple AI Chief Retiring After Siri Failure

John Giannandrea, Apple's AI chief, is retiring after a period of development challenges. Amar Subramanya, formerly of Microsoft and Google, will replace Giannandrea as the new VP of AI. Subramanya will report to Craig Federighi, overseeing AI research, safety, and evaluation. Giannandrea will act as an advisor until 2026, offering continued support. Some of Giannandrea's teams will shift to Sabih Khan and Eddy Cue, focusing on infrastructure and services. Apple is aiming to accelerate its development of intelligent and personal user experiences. Tim Cook expressed gratitude for Giannandrea's contributions to Apple's AI advancements. Cook also welcomed Subramanya's expertise to strengthen Apple's AI strategy. Federighi has played a key role in driving AI initiatives, including the upcoming personalized Siri. Apple sees AI as crucial for future innovation and user experiences.
