Approval workflow for enterprise users to request access to unconfigured apps

A new approval workflow option is being introduced for enterprise users to request access to unconfigured third-party applications. This change specifically targets apps not yet set up by an administrator. If an app is already accessible due to existing admin policies, users will see no change in their access. When end users encounter a blocked unconfigured app, they will now see an error screen with an option to request a review from administrators. After a user submits a request, administrators can manage and decide on these requests within the App Access Control interface. This new process aims to streamline app access for users, enhancing their productivity by providing a clear request path. For administrators, it offers a centralized and efficient method to manage new application access while maintaining data security. The feature will be enabled by default and can be configured at the organizational unit level. Admins can find this setting under API Controls Settings in the Admin console. End users will automatically see the new screen if the approval workflow is enforced, allowing them to request access. The feature will begin a gradual rollout starting August 14, 2025, and is available to all Google Workspace customers.
