Ask Gemini in Meet is being introduced to enhance the Google Meet experience for eligible Workspace customers. This AI feature can summarize ongoing discussions, identify key takeaways and action items, and help users catch up on missed information. Interactions with Ask Gemini are private to each user, and it draws information from meeting captions, permitted Google Workspace files, and public web content. No meeting data is stored after a session concludes, and Ask Gemini does not create records of meetings. The tool cannot answer questions about discussions that occurred before a user joined, unless "Take Notes for Me" was previously enabled. Currently, Ask Gemini in Meet only supports English and is accessible on desktop, not in breakout rooms. While useful, users should review its output as it can occasionally make mistakes. Admins will have control over enabling or disabling this feature for their organizations. Meeting hosts can also disable Ask Gemini for their participants. A consent banner will inform participants when the feature is active. The rollout is already underway for certain plans and will continue through October for others. Initially available for Business Plus customers, it will expand to Business Starter, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus in Q1 2026.
