Assign temporary administrator roles in the Google Admin console
Admins can now grant administrator roles to users, groups, or service accounts for a limited, predefined time. Upon reaching the set expiration, access provided by the role is automatically removed. This functionality significantly enhances security by decreasing persistent privileges and broad access within an organization. It also simplifies administrative tasks, eliminating the manual effort of managing temporary permissions. Super administrators have the option to select from pre-set durations or specify a custom expiration date and time. Notably, the primary administrator, who requires permanent super admin access, cannot be assigned a temporary role. This feature is now available to all Google Workspace customers through both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. For detailed instructions, administrators can consult the Google Workspace Admin Help Center. End users do not have any settings associated with this feature.
