Workspace Studio is launching four new features to enhance automation capabilities: custom starters, custom steps, third-party integrations, and webhooks. These additions allow users to connect custom Google Apps Script functions, integrate external services, and trigger actions in other applications directly within Workspace Studio flows. All new features are protected by robust enterprise security controls, enabling administrators to safely implement advanced automation. Custom starters enable flows to be triggered by real-time events from other applications, while custom steps allow the incorporation of tailored logic, such as Apps Script functions, for complex business needs. The beta version of third-party integrations facilitates seamless data exchange between Workspace and external tools like Asana, Jira, and Salesforce. Webhooks enable sending HTTP requests to external endpoints to initiate actions, with admins having the option to configure a URL allowlist for enhanced security. These powerful features are disabled by default and require administrator enablement in the Workspace Admin Console. Admins can also manage human approval requirements and consult the Admin Help Center for detailed setup instructions.
