Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden, is permanently closing its Bahama Breeze restaurant chain. Half of the existing 28 Bahama Breeze locations will shut down completely. The other half of the restaurants will be converted into different Darden-owned brands. The closures of the 14 closing Bahama Breeze restaurants are expected to be complete by April 5th. Darden did not specify which brands will replace the remaining 14 locations. The company stated the conversion locations are good sites for other brands within its portfolio. This decision follows Darden's earlier announcement that Bahama Breeze was no longer a strategic priority. This move came after the company failed to find a buyer for the Bahama Breeze brand.
